French Online Gambling Market Is Actively Developing
The first quarter of 2019 became indicative of the development of the french online gambling market. Gambling operators stated positive dynamics in all sectors, with the exception of poker games.
According to the data published by the french gambling regulator arjel, the gambling operators generated a cumulative income in the amount of €357 million in the first quarter of 2019. The indicator exceeded last year by 27%.
The leader of the industry was sports betting, whose operators stated the total volume of rates in the amount of €1.27 billion, which is 51 more than in the same period last year. The indicator has become a new quarterly record since the market liberalization in 2010. The total income of the first quarter is equal to the amount of money generated by the industry for the entire 2014. Income from sports booth operations increased by 51% and amounted to €222 million.
The branch of rates on horse runs can boast less success, demonstrating revenue growth by 3% to €67 million.
Income from online poker decreased by 1% and amounted to €68 million – this is the only negative indicator mentioned in the report for the first quarter of 2019. In 2018, the poker industry could boast a significant increase from both tournament activities and cache games, largely the results were due to new agreements on the redistribution of liquidity between france, spain and portugal.
It significant that the number of women’s players in france gradually increases, despite the fact that only one eighth of the frenc franc is interested in gambling. Thus, the number of gambling frenchwomen in the first quarter of this year increased by 24%, and men – by 19%.
