New Technology For Mobile Applications Allows You To Block Gambling Transactions
Barclays became the first major british bank that allowed mobile banking customers «disable» costs for specific activities, including gambling.
On monday, december 10, barclays presented a new feature of his mobile banking application, which allows customers to select desirable and prohibited costs. It automatically deflects all transactions with spending categories that «disabled» buyers.
From what expenses can now be «disable»? Categories include gambling: the whole range of casino, racing rates, bookmakers, gambling online and even lottery tickets and scratch cards. Tracts can still be disconnected in supermarkets, restaurants, grocery stores, pubs and bars, at the gas stores and sites of premium stores, as well as telephone spending.
Currently, the program only works with barclays debit cards, but the bank plans to integrate credit cards in the program. Customer customers who do not use mobile banking can block the categories of sellers by phone or by visiting the local branch of the financial organization.
Barclays worked with the money advice trust foundation and also relied on the study of the institute of mental health to develop a new feature and determine the types of clients wh needed help in monitoring their expenses.
Mark etche, the general director of the gambleaware charitable group financed by the branch of the barclays, and statedt that it would be good if other banks follow this example.
Barclays is not the first financial institution of great britain, who accepted such a scheme. In may, monzo bankers, working only with mobile devices, announced their strategy that allows customers to prevent the use of their accounts for gambling.
Recall that the britysh chancellor philip hammond confirmed that the tax on remote gambling will increase from 15 to 21% from october 2019.
