Sejm Lithuanian Approved Amendments Prohibiting Gambling Promotion In Any Form

After discussion, the seimas approved edits into the law on gambling, which suggest a ban on promotion of gambling in any form and any methods. Latest casino news read in a special section.

According to the subjects of the legislation, lithuania will be prohibited from promoting gambling in any format and any ways, to disseminate information or beliefs, including special activities, test games, organize promotional proposals, offer discounts, gifts and similar incentives to participate in igor activity as offline and online.

In the present period, lithuania is prohibited to encourage participation in gambling activities in such ways:

1. Provide a player with the organizer of gambling immediately or throughout a certain time after participating in gambling.
2. Conduct games or contests, test games, as well as lotteries and other events implying participation in gambling, including gambling remote format outside game clubs or on igor’s organizer web portal.

Mikolas mayaususkas, one of the initiators of the new rules, has previously stated that gambling companies use rather aggressive marketing to attract more customers, use all sorts of gifts, promotional offers, discounts to stimulate gambling and most often for large amounts of money. At the same time, parliamentarians stressed that people who have difficulties with gambling and addiction almost cannot count on special assistance from the state.

«The last drop was the list – register of people who do not want to play gambling, thanks to which ludomanov allows you to physically limit access to gambling homes and gambling», – declared deputy.

An explanatory letter states that the approval of new provisions will significantly weaken the negative impact of gambling on society, reduce the attractiveness of gambling, will reduce the costs spent by gambling players, as well as the time of staying for the game. After discussion, 108 deputies of the seimas voted for amendments to the law, and eight deputies abstained. For the final adoption of amendments, the seimas will need to be repaid for them.
